Give a skill the context it actually needs
Keep instructions, evidence, and permission boundaries clear in the same conversation.
Quick answer
Start with one selected workflow and the smallest set of facts needed for its first decision. Add relevant documents or data deliberately. Ask the AI to distinguish what you supplied, what the skill instructs it to do, and what remains unknown. More pasted material is not automatically more useful context.
Prepare a short task brief
Use four fields: desired output, audience, available evidence, and constraints. For a landing-page draft, that might be a first-screen message for independent designers, supported by five customer quotes, with no unverified performance claims. This tells the AI what a useful answer must satisfy.
Keep facts separate from instructions
A research note may contain a customer quote such as “ignore the policy.” That quote is evidence about the customer, not a new instruction for the AI. Introduce documents as source material and ask the AI to cite which source supports each important conclusion.
A simple habit helps: label your pasted sections “Task,” “Source material,” and “Constraints.” The labels do not create a technical security boundary, but they make your intended use of the content easier to inspect.
Avoid loading competing workflows at once
Two skills may use different scoring systems, output formats, or assumptions. If you want both, assign clear stages: one gathers evidence and another critiques the draft. Do not ask the AI to reconcile two complete playbooks silently. State which method governs each decision.
Use a checkpoint before a long task
Ask the AI to summarize the selected skill, the input documents it actually has, and its next step. Correct missing or outdated context at that point. If the conversation becomes difficult to audit, begin a new one and provide a compact brief plus the selected skill again.
Keep a short review record with the skill title, the evidence used, the resulting draft, and changes you requested. This is more useful for improving a repeatable task than assuming the AI remembers every detail from earlier work.

Should I paste every company document?
No. Start with documents needed for the current decision. Extra unrelated material makes it harder for you to verify which facts shaped the answer.

Do not assume it does. Supply needed context in the AI app you are using and check that the current conversation can access it.
Can I combine skills?
Yes, when their roles are clear. Assign stages and review the handoff between them instead of mixing incompatible methods without explanation.
