How MCP brings a skill into your AI
Understand the connection, the library, and the moment your AI actually receives a skill.
Quick answer
Connect Skillset to a compatible AI app, choose an available skill, and ask the AI to load it. Skillset sends the skill’s instructions into that conversation. The connection is reusable; it does not mean every skill has already been loaded or that a task has been completed.
Three separate jobs
Your AI app holds the conversation. Skillset checks the connected account’s access and supplies the requested workflow. External services, when needed, have their own connections and permissions. Connecting Skillset therefore does not also connect your email, advertising account, or store.
MCP is the communication protocol between an AI host and a server. Its architecture separates the application from the server providing context; it does not prescribe how the host must apply that context.

Try one small task first
Start with a task you can inspect, such as drafting a customer reply from a fictional support ticket. Choose a skill you can access, ask the AI to retrieve its complete instructions, and provide the ticket. Review the reply before considering a real customer workflow.

A connected-app entry confirms authorization. Look for Skillset tool activity and the exact skill title in the conversation to confirm retrieval. If the AI merely describes the skill from a listing, ask it to load the full workflow before proceeding.
New access is checked on later requests. Ask the AI to refresh the available skills after a purchase rather than reconnecting immediately. If an app caches an old list, opening a new conversation can also help isolate the problem.
What hosted delivery does not promise
The AI needs to receive instructions to use them. Someone who can read that output may copy it; MCP is not a leak-proof enclosure. Hosted delivery provides an access check and a maintained source of instructions. Keep genuinely secret credentials out of the skill itself.
Common questions
Do I connect again for every purchase?
Usually no. Use the same authorized connection and ask it to refresh your available skills. Account access is evaluated when a skill is requested.
Does the skill become a native installed skill?
The Skillset connection supplies instructions through MCP. A native skill installation is a separate feature of an AI app.
Will the AI finish the task automatically?
Not necessarily. It may need inputs, other tools, and your approval. A successful skill load confirms retrieval, not task completion.
